It was nice to pull on actual rock. It's been almost five weeks since I've jumped on something to climb. Made it halfway. Good start jumping back into it.
This one is for you

Captains Log 4/27/2020….
First day the beaches in San Diego started opening up.
I took off my Rainbows, stepped into the sand, then into the water…
The crashing waves woke me up from the soft breeze.
Oh Mother we have missed you.
It’s unfortunate to see people take you for granted.

PS. Busting out some older gear.

I decided today would be a good time to delete my Instagram account. Mixed feelings? Maybe? Maybe not? Or the best thing I decided to do!
Social Distancing.
This will be my outlet.

First trip to Germany
As I reflect…
Germany, a country with much history and culture. A place that sits more than eleven hours from home. Koblenz was the set destination with a landscape that was full of greenery from the vast amounts of trees and vineyards along with the water from two meeting rivers the Rhine and Moselle. The interactions I've had here have been nothing but welcoming, but even though many of the people spoke English, it was a little more difficult to really connect to the culture. Language being the first step to really understand the culture, I was out of my comfort zone as I found it hard to try to attempt the language and not with much luck. I am looking forward to the next visit, which hopefully will allow for more pleasure than business. This experience is another one for the books.

March 9th, 2019 - Growth
In order to grow, we must look in places that some may least expect it. UP. It is a much more difficult task to grow when looking down. Going to others for support and help results in something magical. Growth! Surround yourself with people that share the same desire.
Never stop growing!

February 23rd-24th, 2019 - Fear
Why do we fear? Is it fear of the unknown or is it fear of change? The thought of the unknown is a gut wrenching feeling. Doing things out of routine is also something that ignites discomfort. Some people are frightened by change and others embrace it with open arms to see what it has to offer.
Face your fear!

I have grown so much from my trip to El Potrero Chico, Mexico. Initially, I had my doubts about being able to climb such a large feature, but because I was with people that all wanted the same goal, we weren’t looking to back out. Instilling confidence in my own ability and to the people I surround myself with is such an energetic feeling. Thinking back to only 10 days ago, I would have never though I would complete something of this scale.
Be confident!

What's the message?
Are we the most happiest when
we are comfortable? Or are we just
scared of the potential for growth. You
will never know what it's like until you are
in a situation that tests you. To find out, you
need to put yourself there. Tomorrow marks
a day I will be in El Potrero Chico, Mexico
climbing what will be my tallest feet
climbed. I cannot fathom the
severity of achieving this. It is
most exciting and nerve-
wrecking, which shows
how passionate
I am in this
activity.
Go on and get out!

February 9-10, 2019 - Joshua Tree 🌲
First and definitely not the last time going to Joshua Tree. This trip is exactly what I needed. Great company and great climbing. When you think of mental stength, you think deeply about how far you can push back your limits. Push away all the doubt and pull in all the positive aspects in your life. Sometimes we all need to slow down from the fast pace and enjoy the small little things we may overlook. Overlook because of all the distractions that pop up and change our focus.
Stop...Breath...and Slow Down.

February 4, 2019 - Rain
Sometimes we wish it didn’t rain, but in fact we need it more than ever. Not only for ourselves, but for land we live on. The soothing sound it makes when it drops and the sensation you feel against your skin. It cleanses your body and mind if you focus. The same affect happens to our surrounds. Washing away the bad and leaving a beauty of greenery. Some things may not wash away, which is why need to leave no trace and care more.
Photo taken outside Mesa Rim Mira Mesa. I was looking up into the clouds in the rain and saw this perspective.
January 26, 2019 - Safety Always
This most recent trip has gotten me all shook up about safety. Yeah we may have an off day and take our safety for granted, but there is a difference of being aware of something bad and then doing something to prevent it from happening again. This experience has definitely put me out of my comfort zone, which has now sparked my interest in the next level of safety. Climbing has been such an important hobby in my life this past year, that I never truly thought about the worst things that could happen. It wasn't until I started wanting to multipitch that my thought process for safety changed. Since I love learning new systems, I am now even more interested in the field of search and rescue. Please check each other and look out for one another! Also, check your knot!

10/7/2018 First Day in Mammoth
It was only a few months ago that I got to photograph my first experience at Mammoth. Started the day with a bike ride at 10am in some pretty chilly temperatures. Then ventured off solo through the Mammoth Lakes.

11/24/18 Red Rock Canyon | Las Vegas, Nevada
10/6/18 Lone Pine, Bishop, and Mammoth
Woke up and watched the sunrise illuminate Mt Whitney.
We immediately packed our gear then headed to Bishop for breakfast and coffee at the Great Basin Bakery. I filled up my HydroFlask with some delicious dark roast coffee and had a ham and cheese croissant.
Then we headed towards South Lake to capture some photos of the leaves changing color. This was the first time I had ever seen the color of leaves so vibrantly colored other than the typical greens or browns in San Diego, which isn’t as exciting. You can see the Aspens going up along the mountains covering large masses of land. It was an incredible sight to see. We decided to park next to a store so we could gear up for a bike ride. Since we were on our bikes, we were able to appreciate the views even more. It allowed us to get up close to the trees and take some amazing photographs.
After a short ride uphill towards South Lake, we decided to turn back to the cars to change, then we drove to Lake Sabrina to walk around and absorb the view. While we were walking around the lake, I noticed small white flakes falling from the sky and realized that it was snow after seeing it melt away on my black down jacket.
We then headed to Whitmore Hot Springs to freshen up after our ride earlier that day, after grabbing a quick bite to eat. This was my first experience going to a hot spring. It reminded me of a hot tub, the thing is, you don’t need to get out and turn the dial to get the hot tub running again.
After spending a couple of hours in the hot spring, we made our way to Mammoth. First we made an attempt to eat at Ramenya, but they were understaffed and packed so we decided to go to Mammoth Brewery for some food and drinks.
It was fairly cold that night, so I decided to sleep in my car. It's a good thing I did.
